At the beginning of the XVIIIth century, in a hamlet located on the left bank of the Agout, 1 km (as the crow flies) North-East from Lacrouzette lived more than 20 family whose household called Thouy. The name of this hamlet was Thouy. It still exists. It too was recently renovated by a descendant, Pierre Thouy.
My father Pierre Thouy inherited a part of the hamlet after the death of this father in 1962. With my mother Marie Therese Mialhe they got 3 children :
- Jean-Pierre,
- Dominique,
- Florence.
These first rehabilitations ware :
- the plantation in resinous of 33 hectares of the property, it went on for many years to clean fields, then plant the trees, cut the brambles and ferms around the pin trees from firsts years.
- After, he then did drinking water conveyance in order to serve the hamlet (water supply point, stock, pipes, branch-pipes).
My parents began then to rehabilite the family house "l'Oustal" and the junk room built right next to the house. Then, they renovated the home called "le Frêne" without much money and without anyone helping them (create openings, put the windows, the doors, lay the tiled floor, electricity, plumbing, paint, put the finishing touches, furnish, put household appliances as well as what is necessary to cook and feed oneself).
During the years 1972-1973, we welcomed our first guests in joy and good mood, in spite of some finishing works we had to do so that everything is perfect. For us this was a hudge opening towards people living in towns who told us much about their city-dweller life (what they looked for during their holidays and their worries to keep places like our small hamlet in the patrimony). In the years 1975, we join the "Gites de France" of the Tarn where we are still members. My father was member was member of board of the cottages during about fifteen years, he gave his seat so that other actors of tourism in the Tarn make them known.
During the following years they decided to renovate the old typical house of the Sidobre in 3 epi cottage : "La Gorge". The renovation lasted many years : every week-end, during all holidays in order to get a very satisfactory result. They kept the genuine porch with granit columns and the steps built at the entrance of a great 42 m2 living room, with a kitchen corner, a lounge and a bedroomon the side with a "french ceiling". At the ground floor they converted 2 bedrooms with a wide shower room and wc. This cottage permitted us to be known throughout France as well as foreign countries. Thanks to "Gites de France" and the operator tours.
After the creation of the three first cottages, we took some years to look after our plantations. We clearedfields to put again sheeps, as it was previously, for the upkeep and to have some animals. Finally, in 1989, Thouy familly was juged by one's peers : the family got Tarn tourism trophy, which rewards our twenty years endeavours.
From our adolescence my brother and I, we went with our father to hamlet to help him. My mother and my sister stayed at home to welcome guests.
I began to work in granit industry, I got a salary, my parents proposed to give me a Thouy's ground to invest my money.I began in 1990 to apply next to "DDE", the "Conseil Général" and E.U. in order to get subventions to realize my aim to create "le Châlet" - a 3 "epis" cottage. About files it occured rather fastly, but it was the building which lasted because we had neither crane nor scaffoldings. Inside we used wood everywhere. Jean-Pierre, my brother made kitchen and shower room furniture, inside doors, panelled walls, ... result was successfull.
In 1996, we decided to renovate the attic room in a cottage, which was beside the Oustal. We had to realize very important works because walls were in very bad order. We destroyed walls and them again with visible stones. What a beautiful result. This "clevacance", classified 3 "cles", offers three bedrooms with bath, lounge, living room, american kitchen : it's "la Vallée". Works lasted 3 years.
In 1999, we wanted to better the outside of the swimming-pool with a great solarium in the sun ans a part in the shadow under massive wood pergolas, a solar shower, footbath, locker romm, wood balustrade all around the swimming pool to be in compliance with the actual safety standards.
In 2001, we renovated the tennis court which fissured in many places : we built the slab on concrete piles.
Since 2002, we are renovating the home "l'Oustal" : we moved the existing shower room and installed it in a new place located next to the previous one, in order to enlarge the kitchen and get the whole confort required today. The outside front was striped to see the stones, the court yard was paved, fenced with a masonry bbq and a granit table.
In October 2004 we have relooked the lodging Châlet remakes paintings, the tapestries, to change the curtains, improved decoration.
After one very rigorous winter we realized deterioration of the flagstone of the court of tennis it was necessary to make a decision quickly in order to satisfy our customers. We decided to remake it entirely by a company speciality the company "Colas". At the beginning of June the work was completed, the season could start.
In winter 2004 we have remakes our Internet site which were in format HTML to put it in flash mode and XHTML. This change was taken so that the visit of our site is increasingly more pleasant for our increasingly many visitors.
For season 2006 we decided to separate from the services of "Clevacance" and to join the network "Lodgings of France" (for the 5 dwellings) we obtained an exemption by the prefect of our department in order to keep our lodgings in 3 ears without television set...
In the 2007 season we have reorganized the heel "Châlet" and we have done our principal residence ...
